OLD GRAVESENDIANS U13s-22 – VIGO U13s- 0.

MATCH REPORT

The O.Gs U13 squad were pleased to get a run out after recent cancellations against Thanet & Dover. The Ogs started the match at a very high tempo and Vigo could not gain any possession. Camped in their own half, Vigo defended wave after wave of Old Gravesendian attacks. The pressure told when Wing-forward Will Foreman gathered up the loose ball to score the opening try on the Vigo blind slide.

This early score spurred the Ogs on to increase the pace even more. With the ball being passed through the backs and some well executed off loads, Reace Harlin crashed over for his debut try. After the restart some excellent runs from James Brennan, from Full Back,  opened up gaps for skipper Ryan Gibbs to get his back line running again. Centres Toby Lake & Alistair Saunders cut through the tiring Vigo defence to set up the pack to drive Reace Harlin over for his second try.

Ringing the changes at Half time both sides scrapped for possession and field dominance. The Vigo ‘older’ substitutes focused the Old Gravesendian defence. George Osbourne, Jack Sutton, Connor Goodison & Will Foreman tackled like demons and the resulting turn overs allowed the home side to, once again, gain the upper hand. When Sam Button came on as a late substitution, his seering pace threw the Vigo defence into panic. With one eye on the threat out wide the Vigo scum-half threw a wild pass from a five metre scrummage which resulted in a fine poachers try for the talented Alistair Saunders, which was converted by Skipper Ryan Gibbs.

The final scoreline was a resounding 22-0 victory for the Old Gravesendians.
