Old G’s carried on their strong start to the season with their third win within as many weeks, leaving them unbeaten and yet to concede a point.
OG’s made their intensions clear from the very start making good ground through some strong forward play, and although Vigo made some strong tackles, it was just a matter of time before Old G’s made their pressure count, after a couple of good runs and some strong forward play no: 8 Chris went over the whitewash for his first of three tries on the day, gaining him a match ball.
For all of their dominance and chances we only went in at half time 10-0 ahead and with Vigo very much still in the game, the second half started well with fly-half Ryan dancing his way over the line and adding the conversion to stretch the lead to 17-0, which seemed to relax the G’s back line who started running some clever lines and showing how strong they can be with ball in hand.
Ian went over for his second try in as many games, playing wing mid way through the second half, with the try converted Old G’s were now 22-0 up and safe, Chris then reached his hat-trick try and with Ryan running a defence splitting line and converting his own try the scoring was complete with Old G’s running out 38-0 winners.
Following a wasteful first 10mins the u’13s showed their ball handling and running skills and the forwards especially in the scrum and at the breakdown continued to improve, John Foreman the U13’s coach commented after the game that for 10 mins in the second half it was the best rugby this group had played, showing maturity, intelligence and great teamwork.
The u13’s next match is away to Aylesford on the 19th November.
