MATCH REPORT

OLD GRAVESENDIANS UNDER 14s V. NAG UNDER 14s

The Old Gravesendians Pack produced their best rugby of the season to set up a fine 50-0 victory over local rivals New Ash Green. From the outset the pack tore into their opponents and with a well disciplined, high speed rucking game produced copious ball for their backline. Man of the match and skipper Alex Frampton opened the scoring with two tries coming from pressure on the Ash Green line. Both of these tries were converted by Ryan Gibbs. The backs eventually got on the score sheet when astute driving play and inter-passing by the forwards set up a fine passing move and run from winger Ryan Gibbs, culminating in an inside pass to Carl Oliver to crash over for another try. Alex Frampton completed his first half hat-trick after rolling from a maul and driving the guard defense over the line, once again Ryan Gibbs converted the try.

From the restart New Ash Greens Pack began to compete more at first phase, their scrummage, in particular, applying pressure on the O.Gs pack.

The next 10 minutes remained scoreless as both sides scrapped for possession, often resulting in handling errors. The deadlock was broken by a rampaging run from Haveer Dookhit to score his second try of the season.

As the O.G s began to dominate play again further tries were added by Carl Oliver, George Wells & Ryan Gibbs. The pick of these tries was a 75 metre individual effort from George Wells, who scored under the posts after leaving the Ash Green cover defence in tatters.
